College Tours

Our Ferris State University Visit was a HUGE SUCCESS!

My name is Jennifer Kierzek, and I will be replacing Ms. Wendy in the Education room for the upcoming 2018-19 hockey season.  As we are all sad to see Ms. Wendy leave, I promise we will have a great year together.

As some of you may know, I have been coaching my daughters Eva and Marin in the Girls and Olympian divisions the past two seasons.  I have been an educator for many years; earlier in my career, I taught 1st, 4th and 6th grades and for the last 17 years I have been teaching Writing at Grand Valley State University.

I have a great year planned for the parents and players in the Youth Foundation. Staying true to the goals and expectations of the foundation we will continue to have a reading program, college visit, blood drive, career day and goal sheets.  We will continue to offer new and exciting Saturday morning activities for the players and siblings and extend the use of the room on Tuesdays and Thursdays for a quiet reading/study hall space.

Please take a look at the calendar and take note of a few dates: Ferris College VisitRed Cross Blood Drive, and Career Day.  Also, check out the website for our Wish List and the newly added Pot Luck Dinners for families who are at the rink on Thursday nights.

Reading Challenge

Books, books, and more books! Here at the GYF we love to encourage our youth players to read more. The education room started the "Read to Lead" program which provides incentives (cool prizes!) to all of the players if they read books from the Foundation library, read online, read at school, and more. Stop by the Education Room on Saturday and pick up your Reading Log!
