We wanted to share a scholarship opportunity from the Get To Foundation, founded by former EGR athletes Luke and Joe Glendening. The foundation was created to carry on Ben Jones’ legacy of encouraging people to view challenges and commitments as opportunities — shifting from a mindset of “have to” to “get to.” As in: we get to play sports, we get to learn, and we get to serve our communities.

The scholarship program supports high school seniors across Michigan who demonstrate strong character, dedication to academics, commitment to their teammates, leadership among peers, service in the community, and an overall “Get To” attitude in their daily lives.

This year, the foundation will be awarding several thousand dollars in scholarships to deserving applicants. Recipients will receive financial support toward continuing education or training, and are encouraged to carry the “Get To” perspective into their next chapter — inspiring younger students along the way.

Requirements of Scholarship Winners

  • Scholarship Winners must attend at least one Get To® event each year they receive scholarship funds.
  • Scholarship Winners must be willing to participate in our Student Ambassador program. Details regarding the Student Ambassador program will be released soon!
  • Representation of your organization at a future Get To® event

Deadline: Applications close February 15, 2026

  • Scholarship Winners are eligible to apply for renewal of their awards for up to 3 additional years after their initial award.
  • For example, a scholarship award of $500 could be renewed a maximum of 3 times for a total scholarship award of $2000 over 4 years ($500 per successful renewal).
